What is GolfMark?

The GolfMark award (incorporating the Sport England ClubMark) is an accreditation scheme for golf clubs in the area of junior golf.

The scheme assesses golf clubs in the following three key areas:
  • Coaching & Playing
  • Club Environment
  • Duty of Care & Child Protection
Clubs accredited with the GolfMark Award provide:
  • A fun, enjoyable, welcoming environment
  • Access to appropriate levels of coaching and competition
  • A structured environment where you can develop as a player and a person
  • The opportunity to progress to your chosen playing level
  • A sense of belonging to and involvement with a proactive club
  • To be part of a game that will teach you respect, social and life skills, discipline, honesty, integrity, motivation and much more

Golf clubs marked with goldstar-1.jpg are recognised by the EGU/EWGA as High Achiever facilities. These golf clubs have met additional conditions over and above those minimum standards required for GolfMark.

Key Statistics from the GolfMark survey to accredited golf clubs:

  • 100% of clubs felt that the GolfMark process had been beneficial.
  • 52% of clubs had experienced an increase in membership.
  • 71% of clubs had accessed funding/grants since achieving the award.
  • 54% of clubs said that the award had an impact upon recruiting more volunteers.
  • 50% clubs had experienced increased awareness/recognition of their facility in the local community.
